For your convenience Dog Park Permits are available online! Click here to purchase online.
The Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department operates two off-leash areas for dog owners and their dogs to enjoy. Cheyenne Off-Leash Dog Park is located at 1650 Cedar Bend Lane SW in Ely and K9 Acres Off-Leash Area is located in Wanatee Park at 5200 Golf Course Road in Marion. See maps.
Permits/tags (or daily passes) are required for all dogs using the Cedar Rapids off-leash dog parks. Only one permit is necessary for the two parks.
Currently Dog Park Permits are available in person at both of these locations:
City Services Center
500 15th Avenue SW
Cedar Rapids, IA 52404
Hours: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
NW Recreation Center

Metal tags are no longer distributed. Paper or online permits and receipts will replace them.
A $5 discount is available for your permit. You may select up to two (up to $10 in discounts) per dog:
- The dog is spayed or neutered.
- Permits are purchased for more than one dog.
- The dog passed the K9COLA recall test (which is good for the life of the dog).
Email info@k9cola.org for test date information.
Daily permits are available for $6 by calling 319-286-5566 or online for those who want to try them out, or are just visiting the area.
