Park Permits
Now that Cheyenne Park is fully acessible, permits and tags (or daily passes) for the Cedar Rapids off-leash dog parks will be required as of October 1, 2011. Only one permit is necessary for the two parks. You can purchase them at Cedar Rapids Animal Care & Control (2109 N Towne Ln NE; phone is 286-5993; email AnimalControl@cedar-rapids.org); hours are Monday - Friday 12-5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Follow this link to get a copy of the Dog Park Permit Application or get it at the Animal Control site. Note: Animal Control is a little difficult to find as it is set off from the road about 100 yds.
The annual permit will be good for both parks. Annual permits are $25 per year, with one $5 discount available per dog. Choose from discounts for spay/neuter, passing the K9COLA recall test, or multiple dog. You will need proof of vaccinations from your vet to purchase a permit. If your dog has passed the K9COLA recall test in the past, you will need to show the test certificate to get that discount. K9COLA will be holding recall tests again once Cheyenne is rebuilt and reopened. Daily permits will be available for $5 at the dog parks if you just want to try them out, or if you are visiting the area.
If you have questions, contact Animal Control or email K9COLA Site Coordinator Steve at steve@k9cola.org.
