K9Splash 2009 Volunteer Job Descriptions
Registration Table:
- Have person complete Registration form and waiver agreement.
- Make sure they see (@ minimum) the rules.
- Check for vaccination papers from vet. Rabies tags are NOT enough! Check and initial appropriate spot on Registration Form.
- Collect money-- $10/dog. Checks and Cash only accepted. Makes Checks payable to: K9COLA .
- Put colored zip tie on dog’s collar. Color will vary depending on which day(s) they will be attending.
- Give ticket for door prize. Have them fill it out and put it in the bucket at the K9Splash! table inside the pool area. Door prizes every 30mins must be present to win.
- Put money in box and completed forms in appropriate location.
Dog Holders:
- Hold dogs for people trying to fill out registration forms. You will be near the registration table and must be comfortable holding/handling a variety of friendly dogs.
Pre-Registration Table:
- Make sure that people have completed registration form and signed waiver agreement. Should be checked on the form telling us they pre-registered.
- Check for vaccination papers from vet. Rabies tags are NOT enough! Check and initial appropriate spot on Registration Form.
- Put colored zip tie on dog’s collar. Color will vary depending on which day(s) they will be attending.
- Give ticket for door prize. Have them fill it out and put it in the bucket at the K9Splash! table inside the pool area. Door prizes every 30mins must be present to win.
- Put money in box and completed forms in appropriate location.
Entrance Gate:
- Make sure there is a colored tag on collar.
- A dog may leave the pool area and return only if they leave the colored tag on their collar. Once this has been removed they will need to pay another reentrance fee.
- Direct them to the K9Splash! table to fill out and deposit their ticket for door prizes.
- Thank them for coming and supporting K9COLA and the Aquatics Department.
- Watch for potential escapees.
Exit Gate:
- Have the owners pick out one of the donated items from the table, give each dog a snack baggie (contains coupons from vendors).
- A dog may leave the pool area and return only if they leave the colored tag on their collar. Once this has been removed they will need to pay another reentrance fee.
- Thank them for coming and supporting K9COLA and the Aquatics Department.
- Watch for potential escapees.
Pool Walkers:
- Walk the pool area and answer any questions. If you don’t know the answer find someone that does (board member).
- Observe to make sure dogs are not getting out of control or owners are leaving their dogs unattended. If you located a dog unattended by its owner put it in the designated area by the front gate on a leash.
- If you notice an owner not cleaning up after their dog, gently remind them and point them in the direction of the “poop” bags.
- Make sure that people (especially children) are not swimming in the pool. If they are remind them/their parents that this event is a dog swim and per the health department human swimming is not allowed
Bathroom Watchers
- Monitor the entrances to the restroom/changing rooms to ensure that dogs aren’t escaping into their. Once dogs get in there they can get through to freedom!
