Flood Conditions 2008
Current park status: CLOSED The river crested at 31.1 feet on Friday. This is unprecedented, well beyond the last recorded record flooding in 1929. The park is once again closed until further notice. While the park is closed, please do NOT take your dogs into the area until the all-clear is sounded. We close the park because it is not safe for you or your dog to be in these conditions. Flood water is contaminated with bacteria, and the news outlets report there is gas and oil in the waters in downtown Cedar Rapids, so it's anyone's guess what's flowing into the park from upstream. Please stay away from the park until it has been cleaned up and fences reinstalled. (We will -- again -- need lots of help to get the park cleaned up once waters recede; please contact Kelly at k9colavolunteer@gmail.com or by phone at 319-241-4383.)
